The Rebbe and Stanley
/Email from Stanley Peck to Alan Schultz
Alan: I was in the company of The Rebbe (don't ask me why he is not referred to as the Rabbi) maybe a dozen or so times, most of which were to receive one of the many thousands of "dollars" he personally handed out every Sunday to anyone visiting him. During this brief moment of direct contact one had the opportunity to request a blessing or anything else that could be expressed in the time it took for him to hand you the "dollar. The understanding was that this money was to be given to charity (tzdekah) but in reality one kept the Rebbi's dollar and substituted another one for tzdekah. While the magnitude of the line of people insured the visit was brief, it was not uncommon to hear the utter amazement of how, when it was their turn to pass by, he was totally focused on them and their comments. My other occasions in his presence were slightly less public and even more inspiring. You can find more of his accomplishments at Chabad.org and The Rebbi.org.
All the best,
Stanley
